Jazz dance is a technical yet energetic and popular form of dance. It branches off from ballet however, requires the strength and technique acquired from ballet in order to execute jumps, footwork or turns efficiently. This form of dance encourages dancers to step out of the box in order to develop their own style within the Jazz form. The Jazz classes entail a warm-up, stretching and some strengthening exercises to aid the dancers in their jumps and turns. These classes are set-up to help the dancers further their ballet technique with a different style and twist which in turn allows the dancers to step out of their body comfort zone.
During Jazz classes at Legacy the dancers are welcome to wear: either tights, shorts and a short sleeve or tank shirt that is moderately fitted. The dancers are also welcome to wear jazz shoes or foot undiez. As for competitions the dancers will most likely be asked to wear foot undiez.
